Like many seasons past, we kicked this year off in Austin, Texas with Gridlife x Global Time Attack. Since none of the LS350z was still down waiting on a new harness, we sat out on Time Attack and focused on GLTC with the S2000.
Nick historically hasn't had the best luck at COTA. But man, does it feel cool to race there. It keeps us coming back, despite the fact that the track itself isn't our favorite layout (especially for a 200hp car). Unfortunately, this year would prove no exception as Nick's "Cota Curse" continued after what was a very promising practice day. On Friday the car was on rails, and Nick bested his previous PB lap by almost 2.5 seconds getting down to a 2:31. We made a few more set up changes and felt very confident heading into qualifying the next morning. That's when the luck sort of ran out. We chased a suspension failure, that kept Nick from finishing many of the races. Once we found the culprit, he had to start from last place after failing to finish the first two races. He had some good battles and gained a handful of positions as he found his way back up the field.
When the car was working with us, the set up and the pace were trending in a great direction so that's what we decided to take away from this weekend. (And this rad photo).
