We're back on tour! Even better, the #87 S2000 is back in action after many, many hours in the garage sorting the damages from Daytona.
... And she's BLUE!
This time of year we head out west for Gridlife Laguna Seca (and more). It was Gridlife's first time hosting a festival on the west coast, and it was pretty rad for it to land at the iconic Laguna Seca Raceway. It was Nick's first time, and Savanna's second time in a few years. Nick said he remembers playing Laguna on Grand Turismo as a kid, and that the track felt familiar because of it. Seeing the drifters shred the infamous corkscrew left us with a little bit of FOMO, but it was still awesome to get to race there. The crowd brought the good vibes as always.
In typical Laguna fashion, it was damp and foggy every morning which caused delays. The racing for us was somewhat uneventful. Nick had a near miss when a driver in front of him spun in T6 and they barely touched as the spun car rolled backwards across the track. Fortunately, the only casualty was one of our end plates on the rear wing. We were really trying to keep the S2000 as clean as possible because it had a date with a SEMA Booth just 10 days later!
We had a bit of time to kill before heading to Vegas, so we decided to scroll through motorsportsreg.com and see what kind of open lapping or track days we could find in California. After a few days of outdoor adventuring in Mammoth Lakes, we headed south to Willow Springs. There was a small track day happening on Streets of Willow that we figured we would swing through and check out. This time Nick was the one with prior experience, having turned some laps in the Silvia there years ago. For Savanna it was her first time ever seeing Willow Springs. She wasn't a fan of the layout at Streets of Willow, but it always cool to get to add another track to the list. Nick had some fun with s2000 guys, trying to match the lap times of the fast locals.
We spent an extra night enjoying the peace and quiet of the southern California desert and we set off for the next adventure: SEMA!
